Pacific Crest Trail Planning

Our plans to walk from Mexico to Canada on the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) are coming together! Now that my Christmas temp job is over, I’m dedicating myself full-time to co-coordinating this 7 month-long trip. Food, gear, communication, training, trail conditons, weather….. There’s a ridiculous amount to plan as we trek through California, Oregon and Washington, (map of trail here) but we’re making progress.

1. Plane tickets out West √

We’ll be State side 5 Feb and in San Diego 25 March 2009!

2. Lift to the trail head on the US/Mexico border √

(An amazing “trail angel” – a PCT-lover who performs angelic acts to aid PCT hikers – has offered to pick us up from the airport, let us crash at their place & then give us a lift to the start. See, angels do exist!)

3. Lots of luscious lightweight backpacking gear √

We even got a pro-deal with Patagonia! Or should I say Pata-gucci!

4. Sign up for Wilderness First Aid Course √

5. Read up on everyone’s opinions on every topic remotely related to the PCT √

Still loads to do, but it’s exciting to see things progress! If only this house was heated!

And for all you math geeks out there, yes, that tick symbol IS actually a square root sign.
